Tom Sherak Tapped for Honor by Will Rogers Foundation

Award to be presented March 26

The Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation has selected Hollywood veteran Tom Sherak as the 2014 Pioneer of the Year honoree.

The award dinner will take place on March 26 during CinemaCon in Las Vegas.

Sherak, who was formerly president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, is currently Mayor Eric Garcetti’s L.A. film czar, in addition to consulting for Skydance Prods. and One Three Media.

Sherak was a partner at Revolution Studios and consulted for Marvel Studios on the first two “Iron Man” films, “The Incredible Hulk” and “Thor.” He  was chairman of 20th Century Fox Domestic Film Group and served as president of domestic distribution and marketing.

He was an active board member of the Southern California Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and chaired the MS Dinner of Champions for over 20 years, raising over $47 million for multiple sclerosis research and programs.

The Pioneers Foundation perpetuates the legacy of Will Rogers through the Will Rogers Institute and the Pioneers Assistance Fund.
