Universal announced Tuesday the release date for “The Nest,” its comedy starring Golden Globes co-hosts Fey and Poehler as sisters. Disney has already dated “Star Wars: Episode VII,” with J.J. Abrams directing, for the same slot along with Sony’s “Inferno.”
“Pitch Perfect” director Jason Moore is helming “The Nest.” The script is based on an original idea by “Saturday Night Live” writer Paula Pell, who wrote her debut screenplay about about two disconnected sisters summoned home to clean out their childhood bedroom before their parents sell the family house. Looking to recapture their glory days, they throw one final high-school-style party for their classmates.
Fey will produce through her Little Stranger banner alongside Jay Roach and his Everyman Pictures. Poehler will also executive produce.
