Tim Blake Nelson in Talks for ‘Fantastic Four’

Tim Blake Nelson is in talks to play eccentric scientist Harvey Elder in Fox’s reboot of “The Fantastic Four.”

He joins a cast that includes includes Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Bell and Toby Kebbell. Josh Trank is directing.

Fox had no comment.

Based on the Marvel comic “The Ultimate Fantastic Four,” the contemporary update will focus on the characters as young men and women. Trank will helm the pic, with Simon Kinberg, Matthew Vaughn and Gregory Goodman serving as producers.

“The Fantastic Four” is slated to bow June 19, 2015. A second installment is due in summer 2017.

Blake Nelson can be seen next in “The Homesman” directed by Tommy Lee Jones and premiering at Cannes next month. He is repped by UTA and Gateway Management.

The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news.

    Tim Blake Nelson is a fabulous actor. Unfortunately the rest of the cast is crap. The whole idea of a reboot is crap. This movie will bomb, big time.
