‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Get Nostalgic in Preview Clip

The resilient “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” have undergone some changes since they were first introduced in the 1980s, but in a recently released sneak peek from Paramount’s reboot, the ninjas show they haven’t skipped a beat.

After evading a warehouse full of henchmen Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michaelangelo break into a beatboxing cypher in the elevator right before entering a pivotal fight scene.

Michaelangelo’s key phrase “Cowabunga” also makes an appearance in the movie — after taking a hiatus in some recent versions of “TMNT.”

In the clip Raphael asks Michaelangelo, “Hey Mikey, remember that thing you used to say when we were kids?”

The movie is based on the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” characters created by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman, exec produced by Michael Bay and directed by Jonathan Liebesman.

Paramount’s reboot bows Aug. 8.
