Mumbai Sundance Mahindra

LONDON — The Sundance Institute and Mumbai Mantra, the media and entertainment arm of Indian conglomerate the Mahindra Group, have announced the eight projects picked for their annual screenwriters lab, now in its third year. 
 
The projects are selected from more than 500 submissions from India and the Indian diaspora. This year’s picks are Navneet Behal’s “Experiments with Truth”, Ashvin Kumar’s “Noor”, Bornila Chatterjee’s “Nuclear Hearts”, Gaurav Madan’s “Shaktipur Crude”, Deepanjali B Sarkar’s “Svadharma”, Dylan Mohan Gray’s “The Last Day of Winter”, Sanjay Talreja “The River Murder” and Neeraj Ghaywan and Varun Grover’s “Fly Away”.
 
The projects are being mentored by writers Naomi Foner (“Very Good Girls”), Michael Handelman (“Dinner for Schmucks”), James V Hart (“Epic”), Malia Scotch Marmo (“Good Morning Karachi”), Anjum Rajabali (“Satyagraha”), Elena Soarez (“Xingu”), Rose Troche (“The Safety of Objects”), Sooni Taraporevala (“The Namesake”) and multi-hyphenate Dante Harper (“The Delicate Art of the Rifle”).
 
The Sundance Institute and the Mahindra Group also have an annual global filmmaking award, which includes a cash award of $10,000 and attendance at the Sundance Film Festival.
