Cold in July Sundance

As Sundance ends its first week of screenings, this year’s festival has been marked by only a handful of acquisitions so far, but another one was announced on Wednesday afternoon.

Jim Mickle’s “Cold in July” was picked up by IFC Films for North American distribution. The drama centers on a Texas man (Michael C. Hall) who finds his family’s safety threatened after he shoots and kills a burglar. The pic also stars Don Johnson, Sam Shepard and Vinessa Shaw.

“Cold in July” premiered on Saturday night to mostly positive reviews.

“Our whole team is ecstatic to be partnering with IFC Films,” Mickle said in a statement. “This is the perfect fit for our film.”
