Spidey sequel opens on almost all territory's screens.
Launching on the May 1 Labor Day public holiday, the film scored HK$9.56 million ($1.23 million), according to data from HK’s Motion Picture Industry Association.
The score is fully 26% ahead of the previous record holder “Spider Man 3,” which opened in the territory seven years ago to the day. It is also 45% ahead of “Iron Man 3,” which enjoyed a record breaking run in April last year.
“The Amazing Spider Man 2” opened on 203 screens, more than 97% of the territory’s 208 available screens, and played a total of 720 2D and 3D sessions.
