Nell Scovell will adapt Facebook COO's non-fiction tome

Sony Pictures has made a preemptive acquisition of the film rights to “Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead” penned by Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg.

“Sabrina the Teenage Witch” creator Nell Scovell will adapt the book as a fictional story based on the book’s themes. No producers are set at this time.

The nonfiction bestseller covers the inequities between how women and men are treated in the work environment and in leadership positions.

Though the film is not specifically about the social site, “Lean In” is Sony’s second Facebook-related project after David Fincher pic “The Social Network.”

Deadline Hollywood first broke the news.
