Seth Rogen Pacts with Good Universe for Movie Comedies

Point Grey Pictures principals Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver have formed a joint venture deal with Good Universe to focus on developing mainstream comedies.

Point Grey said the venture would cover development and packaging of projects before shopping to the marketplace.

The two companies have collaborated on four comedies starring Rogen — “50/50”; “This Is The End,”  which grossed over $125 million worldwide; the upcoming Universal release “Neighbors”; and an untitled Christmas comedy that Sony will release.

“This union will form an unstoppable juggernaut of pure movie magic the likes of which this world has never seen, and we couldn’t be more excited!” said Rogen, Goldberg and Weaver.

“Our goal is to create a platform for ambitious filmmakers to take the reins of their projects and bring these comedies to life,” said Good Universe co-founder Nathan Kahane.

Rogen and Goldberg, who formed Point Grey in 2011, recently signed on to direct a movie version of business thriller “Console Wars” for Sony, with Scott Rudin producing.  Rogen and Goldberg teamed on directed and writing “This Is the End” for Sony.

Kahane and Joe Drake formed Good Universe in 2012 as a financing, production and sales company.

Point Grey is represented by UTA and attorney Fred Toczek. Dan Freedman negotiated the deals on behalf of Good Universe.
