Sony Pictures has tapped Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg to direct a movie version of business thriller “Console Wars” with Scott Rudin producing.

The studio picked up feature rights from the upcoming Atlantic Books’ title by Blake Harris, a behind-the-scenes thriller that chronicles how Sega took on the juggernaut Nintendo. Atlantic will publish “Console Wars: Sega, Nintendo and the Battle that Defined a Generation” in August.

Sony-based Rudin has produced “Captain Phillips,” “Moneyball” and “The Social Network” for the studio.

Rogen and Goldberg teamed on directed and writing “This Is the End” for Sony. The duo will direct “Console Wars” from their own script.

Harris is executive producing “Console Wars” and also co-directing a documentary on the same subject, with Rudin, Rogen and Goldberg producing as well.
