Scarlett Johansson is in talks to join the Coen brothers’ drama “Hail Caesar.”

Jonah Hill is also in talks to join the cast.

She would join Josh Brolin and George Clooney. Channing Tatum, Tilda Swinton and Ralph Fiennes are also in negotiations to co-star.

Universal will distribute with the Coens producing, along with Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan for Working Title Films.

The story follows a Hollywood fixer in the 1950s who is working to keep a studio’s stars in line.

Johansson will play an actress who suddenly becomes pregnant as her film is about to go into production. It’s a good fit, since Johansson announced in March that she was pregnant. She is engaged to Romain Dauriac.

The plan is to go into production this fall and given the size of the cast, Johansson’s role is not expected to take very long to shoot.

She can be seen next in Universal’s “Lucy” and just wrapped production on Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” She is repped by CAA and LBI Entertainment.

  1. Nash says:

Wouldn’t she rather spend time with her newborn child than jump into every project she’s offered?

  2. Brandon says:

I loved her in The Coen’s The Man Who Wasn’t There.

  3. Sal says:

Between her Tony award, Black Widow, Her, Under the Skin, and her performance in Don Jon, Johansson’s 2010’s have been amazing

    • Sal says:

Not exactly an unpopular opinion; she was critically acclaimed for those roles and nearly everyone agrees she’s having an amazing run right now. I’ll keep rubbing that hard-on, you keep nursing that butthurt.

  4. Kristin Peterson says:

I will always love her as “Grace” in “The Horse Whisperer”.

  5. Great news! She’s the heir apparent to Angelina Jolie, and just because she’s somewhat ubiquitous these days doesn’t mean she isn’t a phenomenal talent. Under the Skin was a rare performance, to see her hunt men so coldly but then by the end you feel so deeply for her.

    • Nash says:

What were you smoking when you saw Under the Skin? A few mumbled lines and two hours of glaring doesn’t equal acting. Jolie and Johansson are both the most overrated actresses currently working today.

      • alex says:

what do you “smoke” when you think your not-so-humble opinions are facts?

      • Nash says:

I’m sorry, are you one of those self righteous “I bet you couldn’t do better” or “you’re stupid, she’s the best” white knights? Under the Skin was two hours of pretentiousness with no resolution. Johansson is a brooding, boring, lifeless, unenergetic and uninterested actress who can easily ruin a movie just by her lack of interest in what she’s doing. And who is Grissom? Who is Ret? Is that some new insult I’m unaware of? Because it’s not effective.

      • Sal says:

Apparently he’s smoking what nearly every critic and serious filmgoer who saw the film did, Nash/Ret/Grissom. She was incredible in Under the Skin. Even if you ignore not to mention the ridiculously brave feat of driving around dodgy parts of Scotland flirting with unsuspectingly-filmed men on hidden cameras, or the vanity-free nudity, or her very good accent that she has to improvise with, she accomplishes the task of conveying growing curiosity and fear with no dialogue. Even if she wasn’t obviously talented, along with ‘Her’, it’s her ticket to meaty, challenging roles in great projects. Sorry!

    Check this out!

  7. Nash says:

And I’m no longer excited for this movie.
