Garrone's English-language 'Tales' co-produced by Le Pacte; sales handled by HanWay

PARIS — Salma Hayek and Vincent Cassel are set to topline Italian helmer Matteo Garrone’s “The Tale of Tales,” the helmer’s follow up to “Reality,” which won a Grand Prize at Cannes.

The English-language film will shoot in Italy during the spring. Garrone’s most ambitious project to date, the period fantasy is based on three tales from Giambattista Basile’s “Lo cunto de li cunti.”

Garrone’s outfit, Archimede Film, is producing with Jean Labadie’s Paris-based leading arthouse shingle Le Pacte. Rai Cinema will release the film in Italy.

Le Pacte will distribute in France, while HanWay Films will handle international sales.

Le Pacte teamed with Garrone on his last two films, “Gomorrah,” winner of Cannes’ Grand Jury nod, and “Reality.”

Cassel is repped by CAA in the U.S. and Adequat in France. Hayek is also repped by CAA and Management 360.
