Radius has acquired U.S. rights to the comedy “Adult Beginners,” three days after its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Rose Byrne and Nick Kroll star along with Bobby Cannavale, Joel McHale, Bobby Moynihan, Mike Birbiglia, Jane Krakowski and Josh Charles. Producer Ross Katz (“Lost in Translation”) makes his directorial debut with the pic.
Radius plans a release in the second quarter.
Kroll portrays a narcissistic entrepreneur who crashes and burns on the eve of his company’s launch and leaves Manhattan to move in with his estranged pregnant sister (Byrne), brother-in-law (Cannavale) and 3-year-old nephew in his suburban childhood home.
The film is based on a story originated by Kroll and written by Jeff Cox and Elizabeth Flahive. Producers are Sam Slater and Paul Bernon of Burn Later Productions, Marcus Cox and Karrie Cox of Through Films, Kroll of Good at Bizness, Inc. and Jared Ian Goldman.
Exec producers are Mark Duplass and Jay Duplass of Duplass Brothers Productions and David Bernon of Burn Later Productions.
The deal was negotiated by Tom Quinn and Jason Janego for Radius with WME Global on behalf of the producers.
