Relativity-EuropaCorp pic set to bow April 25
Relativity Media has dated one of Paul Walker’s last feature films, “Brick Mansions,” which is set for release on April 25. The English-language French remake from EuropaCorp moves into the second-quarter slot previously occupied by Relativity’s “Earth to Echo,” which is bumped to July 2.
In addition to announcing the release date, Relativity said it will make a sizable donation to Walker’s charity Reach Out WorldWide, totaling the eventual cost of the film’s world premiere plus some.
“Brick Mansions” marks the first directorial feature for film editor Camille Delamarre, whose previous editing credits include “Taken 2” and “Columbiana.” The film stars Walker as an undercover cop, who tries to capture a ruthless crime lord, played by David Belle, who originated the role in the 2004 French film titled “Banlieue 13.”
“Paul Walker was an incredible actor, a devoted friend and a warm colleague and we continue to mourn his tragic passing,” Relativity said in a statement. “We are proud to have worked with him on ‘Brick Mansions’ and look forward to honoring him with one of his final releases.”
“Brick Mansions” is the third collaboration between Relativity and EuropaCorp; the companies previously partnered on last year’s “The Family” and “3 Days to Kill,” which bows Feb. 21.
