Participant Media has come on as a co-financier with Warner Bros. on “Our Brand is Crisis.”

Filming is underway in New Orleans on director David Gordon Green’s  adaptation of the 2005 documentary the same name.

Sandra Bullock and Billy Bob Thornton star in the story of a group of American consultants accepting the challenge of getting an unpopular Bolivian president re-elected. Bullock plays a  maverick political consultant who comes out of retirement to lead the team while Thornton portrays her enemy.

The film also stars Anthony Mackie, Scoot McNairy, Zoe Kazan, Ann Dowd, Reynaldo Pacheco, Dominic Flores, Louis Arcella, Octavio Gomez Berrios and Joaquim de Almeida. Green directs from a screenplay by Peter Straughan (“Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy”).

The film is being produced by Smokehouse Pictures’ principals George Clooney and Grant Heslov with Bullock, Participant Media’s Jeff Skoll and Jonathan King, and Stuart Besser serving as executive producers.

“Our Brand is Crisis” will be distributed by Warner Bros.

Participant previously teamed with Warner Bros. on “Contagion,” “The Informant” and “Syriana.”

  1. I was under the impression that this movie was about Sandra Lee Tupperware stacked as such to represent the vertical column of states of Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, and Louisiana into a gigantic Bakers man robot. But since George cast Bullock I guess the movie must have something to so with a Defender of Mankind.
