Paramount Lands Rights to Sean McNamara’s Louis XIV Drama

Paramount Pictures has secured the domestic distribution rights to the pic “The Moon and the Sun” from Sean McNamara.

Paramount will release the film on April 10, 2015.

McNamara will direct the film, which stars Pierce Brosnan, William Hurt, Benjamin Walker, Kaya Scodelario, Pablo Schreiber and Fan Bingbing.

The story follows King Louis XIV’s quest for immortality that leads him to capture and steal the life force of a mermaid. But Louis’ plans are complicated by his daughter, who befriends the creature and defies the most powerful monarch on earth.

The film is produced by Bill Mechanic, Hong Pang, Wei Han, Paul Currie, McNamara and David Brookwell.

International sales are being handled by Good Universe.

    I completely agree. Nowhere in history does it mention King Louis XIV capturing a mermaid. And any historian worth their grain in salt knows a mermaid’s life force can only be stolen by by a woodsland fairy bearing the proper marks of the seventh kingdom. Paramount gets an F- on this one for their blatant misrepresentation of French/mermaid relations.

    Vonda N. McIntyre pathetic attempt to rewrite history will never come to completion or see distribution. There are still relatives of King Louis XIV living in America! You can not just write about a family’s history without their permission and you most certainly can not pervert it. Shameful Paramount your legal department should have done their homework.
