Oscars Academy Awards

For the year ended June 30, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences had total assets of $488,814,200, a tidy increase from the same period of 2012 ($362,963,600).

That was just one of the impressive stats  in the org’s annual statement, which the org released Friday Friday evening, when most of the world’s Academy focus was about who will win Oscars on Sunday, not about its financial health. The bulk of the assets came from investments: $277 million.

The Acad saw $93.7 million in revenues from “Academy Awards and related activities,” while expenses in that area included $39.7 million, up from $37.5 million last year. Revenues also included  $28.7 million in contributions.

In terms of the museum, the report repeated the fact that the org has amassed $200 million in donor commitments, a big stride toward its $300 million capital campaign.

The 40-page report included other stats: 83,000 titles in the archives, including 104 features and shorts preserved in the past year; 1,300 special collections in the library; 300,000 photos added, and so on.
