Olivia Munn is in negotiations to join the cast of Universal’s “Ride Along 2.”

Dates are still being worked out so that Munn can do both the film and HBO’s “Newsroom,” which is about to begin production on its third season, but if a deal is made she would join Ice Cube and Kevin Hart, who would be reprising their roles from the first film.

Tim Story is directing. Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi penned the script.

Plot details are still vague, but Variety has been told that this installment will see its two stars travel to Miami for fun, chaos and shenanigans.

Cube and Matt Alvarez will produce for CubeVision alongside William Packer for Will Packer Productions. Larry Brezner will also produce.

The pic bows on Jan. 15, 2016.

Exec VP of production Scott Bernstein will oversee the project for the studio.

Besides “The Newsroom,” Munn can be seen next in the Screen Gems horror pic “Deliver Us From Evil,” which bows July 2. She is repped by CAA, Mosaic and Jackoway Tyerman Wertheimer Austen Mandelbaum Morris & Klein.
