‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’ Sequel in the Works

My Big Fat Greek Wedding Sequel

Gold Circle and HBO Films have begun developing a sequel along with Playtone Productions to the box office hit “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” with stars Nia Vardalos and John Corbett set to return.

Vardalos will write and star, with Rita Wilson, Playtone’s Tom Hanks, and Gary Goetzman producing. Paul Brooks, Scott Niemeyer, Norm Waitt, Steven Shareshian and Vardalos exec produce.

The story follows the lovably loud Portokalos family who return after a family secret is revealed and a bigger, fatter wedding brings the big fat Greek family back together again.

“Now that I’m experiencing motherhood, I’m ready to write the next chapter of my family story,” said Vardalos. “Of course, a few jaded folks in the press corps will claim I ran out of money or just want to kiss John Corbett again. One of these things is true.”

Vardalos is currently in development on “Leftovers” for Paramount and is also on a book tour for her New York Times bestseller “Instant Mom.”

Gold Circle and Playtone are repped by CAA. Vardalos is represented by Resolution, Untitled Entertainment and attorneys Jon Moonves and Tom Greenberg. Corbett is represented by Gersh and Steve Lovett.

Always liked the first, never saw or even heard of a TV series, would love to see the second movie. Liked the stars and all the cast.

Why another? The first was a Feta Accomplis.

  3. Martin says:

Let’s hope that this is a lot better than “My Big Fat Greek Life,” a TV series mistake of epic proportions that Vardalos would be wise to forget ever existed.

    • ceithor says:

That show would’ve worked if they had been able to get all of the original cast together for it. That is what made the movie so funny, the perfect casting.

The movie is called my big fat Greek divorce!

  5. Dani says:
