Matthew Rhodes Bold Films

As Bold Films heads into the Cannes Film Festival with “Lost River” and “Whiplash,” it will be under Matthew Rhodes who has been named president, motion pictures.

The former president of Mandalay Vision will oversee Bold’s development and production departments. Rhodes will report directly to chairman Michel Litvak and CEO Gary Michael Walters.

While at Mandalay Vision, Rhodes was a producer on “The Voices,” which premiered at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival and sold to Lionsgate. He also produced “Dark Places” starring Charlize Theron, Chloe Moretz and Nicholas Hoult. It is in post-production.

Bold’s offerings at Cannes include Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut in “Lost River” and “Whiplash” starring Miles Teller, as a musician struggling to make is as a jazz drummer.

Also joining Bold Films is Jeffrey Stott as executive vice president, production. He will oversee the company’s physical production activities.

Previously, Stott was executive vice president of production for Castle Rock Entertainment, and most recently was executive producer on “Lost River” and “Drive.”
