Matt Reeves Will Return to Direct ‘Planet of the Apes 3’

"Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" bows this summer

20th Century Fox isn’t monkeying around with the director of its next “Planet of the Apes” feature.

Matt Reeves, who helmed the upcoming “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” will return to direct the third installment as well, the studio confirmed.

The third “Planet of the Apes” is currently untitled and Chernin Entertainment will return as producers along with Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver.

The writers are unknown at this point.

The “Planet of the Apes” franchise is a major priority for the studio after the 2011 reboot overperformed at the box office grossing $482 million while also receiving very favorable reviews.

The sequel, which replaces James Franco with “Zero Dark Thirty” actor Jason Clarke, will open July 11.

Andy Serkis and Gary Oldman also star.

Reeves is repped by CAA.
