Son of God

With “Son of God” heading into 3,000 U.S. theaters on Friday, Relativity International has announced it’s sold the movie to more than 60 territories.

Sun Distributor Group in Latin America has acquired rights for a pan-Latin American release on Easter Weekend. Other markets include Hong Kong for Golden Scene; Japan for Broadmedia Studios; 16 Middle East markets for Gulf Film; Philippines for Pioneer Films; Portugal for Big Picture Films; South Korea for Sookie Pictures; and Taiwan for Catchplay.

Mark Burnett and Roma Downey struck a distribution pact last September with 20th Century Fox for “Son of God,” derived from the pair’s 10-hour miniseries “The Bible.” The movie focused on the story of Jesus, played by Portuguese actor Diogo Morgado, from his birth through the Resurrection.

“Bible” aired in the U.S. to an average of 15 million-plus viewers for its five two-hour installments.
