Open Road Films has set a Feb. 27 release for inspirational family film “Little Boy,” exec produced by Roma Downey and Mark Burnett (pictured above).

The distributor acquired U.S. rights recently amid a surge of interest in family and faith-based films.

“Little Boy” stars Emily Watson, Tom Wilkinson, Kevin James, Ben Chaplin, Michael Rapaport, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Ted Levine, David Henrie, Eduardo Verastegui and 7-year old newcomer Jakob Salvati.

Downey and Burnett (pictured) produced “Son of God,” the Christian movie that has grossed an impressive $67 million in the U.S. and was adapted from their 10-hour miniseries “The Bible,” which aired last year on History. They are also producers on MGM’s upcoming reboot of “Ben-Hur.”

“Little Boy” centers on a 7-year-old boy who is willing to do whatever it takes to end World War II so he can bring his father home.

Other films opening on Feb. 27 are Warner Bros.’ comedy “Focus,” Fox’s “Agent 47: Hitman” and Focus’ sci-fier “Selfless.”
