Lego Spinoff ‘Ninjago’ Dated for Sept. 2016

Warner Bros. has dated “Ninjago,” a spinoff pic in the Lego franchise, for Sept. 23, 2016.

Ninjago is the Lego Group’s hugely popular ninja-inspired line of building sets and minifigures that have gained their own legion of fans.

Charlie Bean (“Tron: Uprising”) will direct the pic with Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller producing.

The Lego Movie” was released earlier this year and went on to be the first major blockbuster of 2014, grossing $461 million worldwide. A sequel for the movie, directed by Chris McKay, has also been set.

    In what way is it a spin off? Ninjago had no presence whatsoever in the Lego Movie, so surely it can’t be a spin off. Surely it’s just… another film.

    It’s like saying Indiana Jones is a spin off from Star Wars because they both had Harrison Ford in them.
