“Keanu” is expected to shoot in April. New Line is in talks with “Key and Peele” director Peter Atencio to direct the movie, from a script written by Peele and Alex Rubens, who writes on the duo’s Comedy Central series.
The story follows a group of friends posing as drug dealers in order to retrieve a stolen feline. Michael Disco and Sam Brown are overseeing the project for New Line.
New Line had been in talks with the pair earlier this year to revive its once-sturdy “Police Academy” franchise.
Key and Peele met as cast members on “MadTV.”
Peele is repped by Principato-Young and Jared Levine of Morris Yorn. Key is repped by UTA, Principato-Young, and attorney Dave Feldman.
