Fox is moving ahead with “Joy,” setting a Christmas 2015 release date for what’s being developed as a potential Jennifer Lawrence vehicle about the inventor of the Miracle Mop.

Fox had no further comment.

David O. Russell indicated earlier this year that he was looking to cast Lawrence as inventor-entrepreneur Joy Mangano. Lawrence said last month on “Live With Kelly and Michael” that she was interested in the project.

Russell directed Lawrence in “Silver Linings Playbook” and “American Hustle.”

John Davis and John Fox are producing for Fox-based Davis Entertainment along with Ken Mok. The script has been written by “Bridesmaids” co-scribe Annie Mumolo.

Mangano, who invented the Miracle Mop and Huggable Hangers, is the president of Ingenious Designs and appears regularly on the Home Shopping Network.

Lawrence has been shooting the “Mockingjay” movies in Atlanta and Europe.

“Joy” is the third title to be dated for Christmas, 2015, following Paramount’s “Mission: Impossible 5” and Fox/DreamWorks’ “KungFu Panda 3.”

O’Russel Goes to take a sip of his own Cool-aid. get ready for that bitter taste. No one wants to see a bio-pic of a psudo-inventer broad that aint even dead yet.

  2. hermes83 says:

Can’t wait to see it. This would be her third film with Russell. He knows she’s the best young actress easily.

  3. James says:

For a normal actress it would be difficult to pull it off…but for Jennifer Lawrence, nothing is impossible! She will be great as always…The second Oscar is near!

  4. Lucas says:

I love her but she needs to start making movies for her age, with younger movie tone.

Do you remember “A Few Good Men”? Jack Nicholson played a Marine colonel. The problem was that Nicholson was about twenty years beyond the mandatory retirement age for colonels. Yet no one remarked that Nicholson was too old for the part and he did a brilliant job. Do we have a different standard for women? Do you expect Ms. Lawrence to sit obediantly on the sidelines for a part that specifies her exact age? If so, she’ll wait a long time because most roles for women her age are horizontal. Unless of course you think that’s the only appropriate role for a woman her age.
