Israel Film Festival to Honor Arnon Milchan, Mace Neufeld

From Oct. 23 to Nov. 6, the 28th Israel Film Festival will feature 28 narrative and documentary films, showcasing the year of Israeli cinema.

The festival will also honor producers Arnon Milchan (“Gone Girl”) and Mace Neufeld (“The Equalizer”) will be honored at the festival’s opening night. Milchan will receive the 2014 Israel Film Festival Visionary Award, and Neufeld will receive the 2014 Israel Film Festival Lifetime Achievement Award.

Israeli actress Dana Ivgy has also been selected to receive the Israel Film Festival Cinematic Achievement Award for her dual win at last month’s Ophir awards, where she won best actress and best supporting actress awards fro two separate films.

“Israeli cinema is on a roll,” said Meir Fenigstein, IFF’s founder and executive director.  “For 28 years, we have been bringing the best of Israeli movies and documentaries to Los Angeles, but I must say the creativity, passion and depth filmmakers have been bringing to their projects lately has been amazing.”

This year’s festival will also pay tribute to producer Menachem Golan, who died in August, with the U.S. premiere of “The Go-Go Boys: The Inside Story of Cannon Films,” a panel discussion about Golan’s life and work, and a Q&A with the film’s director Hilla Medalia.  The panel will be held at the Writers Guild Theatre on Oct. 30.

Other highlights of the festival include a screening of “Life as a Rumor,” “Apples from the Desert” and “Above and Beyond,” as well as the largest group of actors and filmmakers from Israel accompanying their films to participate in Q&A sessions.

All of the Israel Film Festival films will screen at the Laemmle Music Hall 3 in Beverly Hills, the Laemmle Town Center 5 in Encino and the Laemmle NoHo 7 in North Hollywood.
