Cannes: Indie Sales Sells ‘Marie’s Story’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Nicolas Eschbach’s Indie Sales have closed key territory deals on Jean-Pierre Ameris’ “Marie’s Story: From Darkness to Light.”

Pic pre-sold to TeleMunchen/ Concorde (Germany), Filmladen (Austria), Orlando (Israel) and Aud (South Korea).

The 19th century-set drama toplines French star Isabelle Carre as a deaf and blind young woman. Sophie Revil and Denis Carot at Escazal Films produced.
Diaphana will release the pic on Nov. 12 and it’s being tipped for a festival this summer.

Ameris previously directed “Romantics Anonymous,” a box office success that sold to more than 30 territories. Indie Sales has already pre-sold “Marie” to Spain (A Contracorriente Films), Switzerland (Filmcoopi), Colombia (Cineplex), Brazil (Imovision) and Laptv for Latin American pay TV.

In Cannes, Indie Sales is shopping “The White Knights” (Les Chevaliers Blancs), from Belgium’s Joachim Lafosse, whose last movie “Our Children” played in Un Certain Regard in 2012. Inspired by a true story, “Knights” centers on a charismatic NGO director and a journalist who embark in a mission to rescue 300 orphans from the civil war in West Sudan. Produced by Versus Prods. and Les Films du Worso, pic stars Vincent Lindon, Valerie Donzelli, Louise Bourgoin and Reta Kateb.

Both films wrapped earlier this month.
