‘I Am Big Bird’ Documentary Sells to Tribeca Film for U.S.

I Am Big Bird Documentary

Tribeca Film has acquired U.S. rights to the documentary “I Am Big Bird,” directed and produced by Dave LaMattina and Chad Walker.

The film, which had its world premiere at Hot Docs this year, will  be released theatrically and on VOD day-and-date in the first quarter.

“I Am Big Bird” is a portrait of Caroll Spinney, who has portrayed Sesame Street’s Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch for four decades. The film includes  Spinney’s earliest collaborations with Jim Henson and traces his journey from bullied child to TV star.

The deal was negotiated for Tribeca Film by Alison Diviney, and Abby Davis of Preferred Content on behalf of the filmmakers.
