‘Harry Potter’ Actor Found Dead in Death Valley

David Legeno Dead: 'Harry Potter' Actor

David Legeno, an English actor and mixed martial artist best known for his villainous role in the “Harry Potter” films, was found dead in Death Valley on Sunday morning. He was 50.

The Inyo County Sheriff’s Department was notified on the morning of July 6 by two unrelated hikers who found the remains below Death Valley’s Manly Beacon, near Zabriskie Point. A helicopter was sent out to transport the body, later identified as Legeno.

Officials of Inyo Country report that Legeno died of “heat-related issues,” likely on a hiking outing. An autopsy has yet to be performed.

Legeno took up boxing and wrestling at the age of 42, known in the United Kingdom as The Enforcer. He used his talents in many action films such as “Snatch” and “Batman Begins.” He received wider attention for his role in the “Harry Potter” franchise as Fenrir Greyback, a werewolf who hunts down Harry and his friends in the final three entries of the series.

Legeno is survived by his daughter, Wendy.

I will miss Greg very much. I sincerely hope that he lands another show. He will be missed. There isn’t anyone that comes close to him.

  2. I guess he forgot that wasn’t the way to Diagon Alley

To the site editors: you put links under the banner ‘you may also like’; that feels inappropriate since I may want to read the article but do not like that a ‘Harry Potter Actor Found Dead in Death Valley.’

I feel for his family. But who hikes in the Badlands in the summer?

Sorry hear he passed.. what a lonely way to die…. let that be a warning to all, if you are out driving in the desert, stay only on well traveled roads… you can’t beat the heat… sorry to his child and his family..

Sad way to die and hope people take heed to ur advice. Also too many people jumping off cliffs into dangerous ocean waves and dying as well from shark attacks! Crazy summer tragedies so sad with much hotter weather.

      • Linda Bartley Kittler says:

Amen! This hot weather seems to be affecting us all negatively. I’ve been to Death Valley once, many years ago. It was so hot that after a few minutes, I fled back to the rental car & cranked up the a/c. BTW, fewer people are killed by sharks than most people think.
