'Last Days in Vietnam,' 'The Overnighters' join the 2014 slate

The Hamptons Intl. Film Festival’s annual SummerDocs series of documentary programming will round out its 2014 slate with Rory Kennedy’s “Last Days in Vietnam” and Jesse Moss’ “The Overnighters,” both of which screened at Sundance earlier this year.

Alex Baldwin, who usually hosts SummerDocs events, will moderate conversations with Kennedy and subject Stuart Herrington for “Last Days,” and with Moss for “Overnighters.”

“Last Days,” which screened Aug. 16, centers on the 24-hour period in April 1975 when U.S. and South Vietnamese military personnel were evacuated from Saigon. “Overnighters,” screening Aug. 29, follows a North Dakota town’s tribulations in trying to accommodate an influx of aspiring oil-field workers.

The two titles join a 2014 SummerDocs roster that also includes “Keep on Keepin’ On,” set to screen July 25.

All screenings take place at East Hampton’s Guild Hall. SummerDocs represents the hot-weather programming of HIFF, lined up to run this year Oct. 9-13.
