Warner Bros.’ “King Arthur” is set to hit theaters on July 22, 2016, becoming the first title to land on that date.
There has been recent speculation that WB will move its still-untitled Batman-Superman project back from May 6, 2016, to the July 22 date to avoid going up against Marvel-Disney’s “Captain America 3.” But domestic distribution topper Dan Fellman recently said that there were no plans to move.
The yet-to-be-filmed “King Arthur” will be directed by Guy Ritchie from Joby Harold’s screenplay. Harold, Akiva Goldsman and Tory Tunnell will produce.
Plot details are under wraps and no cast has been set.
Disney released a “King Arthur” movie in 2004 with Clive Owen in the title role and Jerry Bruckheimer producing. The film grossed $203 million worldwide.
