‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Biggest August Pre-Seller in History (EXCLUSIVE)

Guardians of the Galaxy

Guardians of the Galaxy” is set to become the biggest August pre-seller in Fandango’s history, the online ticket company reports.

The Marvel space adventure is outpacing sales of the previous record-holder, “The Bourne Ultimatum,” and is also outselling other films made by the comicbook production company, “Thor” and “Captain America.”

It is shaping up to be the hottest selling non-sequel of the year, besting “The LEGO Movie,” a sign of the strength of the Marvel brand. It currently accounts for 93% of tickets sold. Analysts expect the film will debut to north of $65 million this weekend.

Fandango surveyed more than 1,000 “Guardians” ticket-buyers on its site and found that 95% are attracted to the film’s humor; 85% are excited to see Chris Pratt in a starring role; and 80% are interested in seeing additional “Guardians” movies (a good thing as Disney just announced a sequel hits theaters in 2017).

Marvel is clearly the big selling point for the film, because the interstellar heroes are not as well known as Captain America and Thor. Fifty eight percent of ticket-buyers were previously unfamiliar with the “Guardians” comic books.

Well i’m guessing this will now put the studio at ease. They were worried that that “rocket” was going to be there JarJar binks and would some how sink the movie…
Some how this movie is getting 100’s and 10’s, depending on the rating scale and it’s not even out yet..

I got my ticket and I’m even walking out of work early do I can make it to the screening in time.

    Simply FABULOUS !

I think that attributing this success to Marvel brand only is selling this movie short. Characters are wonderful and come off so in short format such as trailers and spots, so the movie would do well even without “From Studio that gave you the Avengers”. It’s also a space opera, not another Superhero out of 20+, so that makes it different from same old. Bang on job by director, cast and crew as well as marketing department. They created a unique looking movie that people bored with recycled material want to check out.
