‘Godzilla’ Plays Ping Pong for Snickers Campaign

Legendary Pictures may be taking a more serious approach with its “Godzilla,” which Warner Bros. releases this summer, but Snickers is amping up the funny side of the big Japanese lizard as part of a promotion around the film.

The candy bar maker has released a commercial starring Godzilla which features the creature playing ping pong, water skiing and riding an ATV in the desert.

“Godzilla is actually pretty cool,” says a guy at a party. “Except when he’s hungry,” reminds his friend, which then cuts to the beast on a rampage in a city.

The ad debuted just days after Legendary unleashed the first full trailer for the film, stressing the foreboding tone of the movie that stars Bryan Cranston, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Ken Watanabe, Juliette Binoche, David Strathairn and Sally Hawkins.

The film stomps into theaters May 16.
