Global Screen Picks Up 'About Girl'

Acquisition comes ahead of German Films Previews in Dresden

LONDON — Munich-based sales house Global Screen has picked up worldwide distribution rights to
upbeat, feel-good young adult film “About a Girl.”

Pic stars break-out thesp Jasna Fritzi Bauer, alongside Heike Makatsch (“Love, Actually,” “Hilde”) in a fun and touching helming debut from Mark Monheim.

The film is still in post-production, but Global Screen will show an early cut at the German
Films Previews, the annual networking event for foreign buyers hosted by German Films that runs June 19-22 in Dresden.

Pic tells the story of Charleen, a quick-witted and sassy 15 year old. She is Kurt Cobain’s biggest fan and wonders why “growing up” has to be so complicated. One day, feeling especially melodramatic and rebellious, she decides to pull the plug on her life. Luckily, she fails — and discovers what fun life can really be, especially when you fall in love.

“About a Girl” is an Imbissfilm production, in co-production with die film, Senator Film Produktion and Bayerischer Rundfunk. The movie is supported by Bavaria’s regional film fund FFF Bayern, Filmfoerderungsanstalt Berlin and the German Federal Film Fund.
