Alcon’s “Point Break” remake has hit a major snag as sources confirm to Variety that star Gerard Butler has fallen out of the project.

Butler was in line to play Bodhi, the role played by Patrick Swayze in the 1991 original.

“Point Break,” co-starring Luke Bracey and Ray Winstone, is still expected to shoot in June.

While the reasons for Butler’s exit are unknown, the “Point Break” production was cutting it close to Butler’s upcoming shoot with the “Olympus Has Fallen” sequel “London Has Fallen,” which may have played a part in his departure. Others site creative differences as a factor.

Ericson Core is helming the pic, which will retain the original story of an FBI agent infiltrating a ring of criminals but will be set in the world of extreme sports.

Alcon’s Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove are producing along with John Baldecchi, Chris Taylor and Kurt Wimmer.
