‘Gentlemen’ Set to Open Stockholm Fest

Following its world premiere at Toronto, Mikael Marcimain’s “Gentlemen” will sail to Stockholm where it will open the 25th edition of the film festival.

Th movie will also compete at the fest.

The romance-laced thriller, repped by French outfit Wild Bunch, is based on Klas Ostergren’s best-selling novels.  The material was also adapted into four-part mini that is being sold by Wild Bunch.

Set during the post-WWII era, “Gentlemen” centers around the flamboyant and charismatic Morgan brothers. The cast features David Dencik, David Fukamachi Regnfors, Ruth Vega Fernandez and Sverrir Gudnason.

“It is a great honor to once again open the Stockholm Film Festival. ‘Gentlemen’ evokes a city and a time that starkly contrasts today’s society. It’s an unpolished epic, an adventure in a no longer existing era,” said Marcimain, whose “Call Girl” opened Stockholm in 2012.

“Gentlemen” is produced by B-Reel, Fredrik Heinig, Johannes Ahlund and Mattias Norhborg, with the support of the Swedish Film Insitute among other orgs.

AB Svensk Filmindustri will roll out “Gentlemen” in theaters across Sweden on Dec. 5.
