Pang Ho-cheung drama fixes multi-territory outing.

Aberdeen,” the social drama by Hong Kong’s hottest director director Pang Ho-cheung, will be given a simultaneous release in Hong Kong, mainland China, North America, Australia and New Zealand on May 8.

The film, which held its world premiere March 24 as the opening gala of the Hong Kong Intl. Film Festival, was produced with a budget of about RMB40 million ($6.5 million), according to Ricky Tse, managing director of Bravos Pictures, the newly launched Hong Kong company responsible for international sales.

It was produced by Pang and Subi Liang (pictured) at Making Film Production and CKF Pictures, with finance from China’s Huayi Brothers Media and Sun Entertainment. Tse says his company is currently negotiating further sales deals with distributors in Malaysia and Taiwan.

The film tells the story of three generations of a Hong Kong family and the challenges they face. The cast is a solid line-up of familiar names from Hong Kong cinema, including Louis Koo, Miriam Yeung, Gigi Leung, Ng Man-tat and Carrie Ng.
