‘Fantastic Four’ Script In, Actors to Test by End of Month

Fantastic Four Comic

Miles Teller, Kit Harrington and Kate Mara among those testing

It looks like Fox’s reboot of “The Fantastic Four” is getting closer to finalizing its cast.

Sources tell Variety that Simon Kinberg has finished rewriting the script and that the studio plans to begin testing thesps for the roles of Reed Richards (aka Mister Fantastic) and Sue Storm (aka the Invisible Woman) by the end of the month.

Teller was asked Tuesday in an interview at Sundance if he would be playing Richards. He replied that, “Yeah that should be happening in the next few weeks,” making it seem like the actor was already on board. But sources say the actor was misunderstood and that he is testing but isn’t the frontrunner or officially attached. Other actors expected to test for the part include “Game of Thrones'” Kit Harington and Richard Madden.

Kate Mara and Saoirse Ronan are expected to test for Sue Storm. Michael B. Jordan is attached to play Johnny Storm, but he is expected to test with the actors to see which group has the best chemistry.

Josh Trank is on board to direct the pic with Kinberg, Matthew Vaughn and Gregory Goodman serving as producers.

“The Fantastic Four” is slated to bow June 19, 2015.

  1. Sean says:

Guaranteed, this movie will make Stan lee cringe! He shouldn’t appear in a cameo in this one. It’s an insult to his creation! Fox has absolutely no respect for the source material!

  2. Erm how can a black actor play the role of Johnny Storm and a white actress play the role of Sue storm when they are siblings..Was one adopted?

  3. Matthew Nigro says:

Thank you Fox for taking 5 steps back with this franchise for every 2 steps forward the rest of the comic book movie franchises make. Christ even their X-Men franchise is moving in the right direction and they still cannot help but fuck this up after making 2 of the worst comic book films ever made… Josh Trank and Michael B. Jordan (both of whom I like and respect) oughtta be ashamed of themselves for their part in this abomination.

  4. Richard Anderson says:

I’m a huge f4 fan and hope that they don’t cast this younger……..I thought the first movies were ok, but could of been a lot better…but after hearing about the casting rumors, I think the original movies are going to be better than this one.

    • Matthew Nigro says:

Which parts exactly were OK? The horrible acting, bad costumes, complete decimation of classic characters like Galactus, Dr. Doom, and Silver Surfer, or the terribly dumbed- down corny humor and childish writing? If you actually are a Fantastic Four fan you should be ashamed to even make that strong a comment supporting those atrocious films.

  5. If Johnny’s going to be black, why not have a black Sue as well? Or are they actually afraid of portraying an interracial romance in two thousand and fourteen.

  6. lotrfan says:

If there is going to be a black johnny storm then i refuse to watch it. Johnny Storm is a white character and should be played by a white actor. I’m so sick of this ridiculous need to hire black actors to play white characters. It’s racist!

    • B Serious says:

He is only white in the comics because having a black character was too groundbreaking for the time. Think racism – along the lines of your view of a black Johnny Storm being unwatchable. Its only melanin !

  7. Mike says:

So it seems perhaps the alleged script review is correct, and this’ll be more along the lines of an Ultimate version, where they are developed as weapons instead of the “space flight gone wrong” version. It’s funny how Michael B. Jordan gets all this crap about playing Human Torch and he isn’t even going to be what’s wrong with this movie.

  8. The Kingslayer says:

Jesus Christ why must they ruin The Fantastic Four? Get a man to play Reed Richards not a baby.

Reblogged this on The Badlands and Everything After and commented:
It finally sounds like Fantastic Four might get off the ground with an extremely different team dynamic. If these rumors hold true, expect a younger Mr. Fantastic who will likely be the same age as Johnny Storm. I think it is pretty solid bet that Michael B. Jordan is going to be the Human Torch therefore, the relationship with Sue Storm will have to be explained to the dumb viewing public. I would be completely fine with no backstory, but I’m sure it will be worked into the script if Sue is meant to be white. Personally, I would like either of the actors from Game of Thrones, but Richard Madden seems to have an ease with his American accent. IMO, Miles Teller is TOO babyfaced.

    • Hud says:

I would love to see Richard Madden as Reed Richards. He’s been my first choice since this reboot was announced and before his name was ever mentioned. He’s a fine actor and has the look. Michael B. Jordan would be a great choice for Johnny. I’d like to suggest Alan Ritchson for Ben. All of the actresses mentioned fore Sue have been great, but I like Margot Robbie and Allison Williams best.

Miles Teller wouldn’t be a good fit for the role IMO. I hope he does well in Hollywood, but I really don’t want him for Reed.
