With a February start date line up, Tim Burton is going with a familiar face to lead the away in his next pic.

Eva Green is in negotiations to star in the Fox pic “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” which Burton will direct.

Based on the Ransom Riggs’ novel about a teenager who finds himself transported to an island where he must help protect a group of orphans with special powers from creatures out to destroy them. Green would play the title character, who acts as a guardian for these orphans.

Chernin Entertainment is producing the pic.

If the deal closes, the film would be a step closer to giving Burton another supernatural feature to tackle. Green and Burton had previously worked together on “Dark Shadows” and Burton has always enjoyed reteaming with thesps he has worked with in the past.

Green, who is repped by UTA and Tavistock Wood Management, was last seen in “300: Rise of an Empire” and can be seen next in Robert Rodriguez’s “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.”

She has also stayed busy on the TV front with her Showtime show “Penny Dreadful,” which was recently renewed for a second season.

  2. Joanna Walls says:

Miss Peregrins is a wonderful book. I have read both books in the series so far and I’m so thrilled that Tim Burton is going for this story as his next film. If anyone can do it justice, he can. I have also watched Penny Dreadful so I hope Eva Green takes up the challenge.

  3. I’m starting to think Burton has a “type” ;)

  4. harry georgatos says:

Tailor made for Tim Burtons skill sets. Looking forward with this one.

  5. Jeri says:

I have read this book and was very excited to see Tim Burton in the director’s chair. However, Eva Green is not the first name that jumps into my mind to play Miss Peregrine. I always got the impression that she was a more mature (matronly) woman. I will have to reserve judgement, but this potential casting does make me nervous.

    • When I was reading I pictured them as more matronly, too; especially Ms. Wren. I am excited though, I think Tim Burton will do a great job bring these fantastical characters to life.

  6. Chelsea says:

Sounds interesting and anything with Tim Burton is always great so I am amp up for this new project.
