Lancaster has a pair of Bold Films titles opening in the fall: Sundance Grand Jury prize winner “Whiplash” at Sony Classics and Jake Gyllenhaal’s crime thriller “Nightcrawler” at Open Road, which premieres at the Toronto Intl. Film Festival.
eOne will have a first-look at financing and distributing all Rumble films and Lancaster will also consult on eOne’s own productions handled through its global film production arm under film production president Xavier Marchand and senior VP Benedict Carver, who will oversee the relationship with Rumble from eOne’s Los Angeles office.
Variety first reported that Lancaster was launching Rumble Films in late July after eight years as co-president of Bold Films.
“We wanted to sign this deal before David’s doors even opened and we are thrilled to be in business with Rumble,” said Marchand. “It’s incredibly rewarding to extend our partnership with David as he launches his new venture and attach the industry’s most experienced independent producers to our network to finance projects in new and resourceful ways that add great films to our pipeline worldwide.”
Lancaster also producers “The Coup,” which stars Owen Wilson, Pierce Brosnan and Lake Bell, and will be released by The Weinstein Company.
