Josh Wiggins Hellion

Warner Bros. has come on board to MGM’s dog story “Max,” starring Josh Wiggins (“Hellion”), and will release the family film for Jan. 30.

Wiggins portrays a wayward teen who finds comfort and friendship with the military dog of his older brother, a US Marine who was killed on the frontlines of the war in Afghanistan.

Boaz Yakin is directing the movie, which also stars Thomas Haden Church, Lauren Graham and Joseph Julian Soria.

Karen Rosenfelt and Ken Blancato are producing the film.

The Jan. 30 date will also see openings from Paramount’s “Project Almanac” and Lionsgate’s horror vehicle “Lazarus.”
