HONG KONG – “Dhoom 3” has become the highest grossing Indian film of all time with a worldwide total of $81.8 million.
Producer and distributor Yash Raj Films confirmed that the film had scored a gross INR3.51 billion ($56.8 million) in India and a further $25.01 million from international markets. That makes it the first ever Indian film to exceed 500 crore (an Indian numerical unit equivalent to 10 million).
The film, the third in the action adventure crime caper franchise, stars Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra, Katrina Kaif and superstar Aamir Khan.
It was self-released in major territories by YRF on Dec 20. Further openings in Japan, Germany, East Europe, Turkey and Russia are scheduled for the next few weeks.
