Costa Gavras, iconic director of “Z,” “Missing,” and “Music Box,” has been appointed as president of the jury at the upcoming Deauville American Film Festival (Sept 5-14, 2014).
The festival, which presents a mash up of U.S. indie titles and studio movies ahead of their autumn release in France, this year celebrates its 40th anniversary. Held in the seaside Normandy town of Deauville, the festival is now France’s second biggest film event after Cannes.
Organizers are putting together a special anniversary event paying tribute to the Hollywood studios.
The Cinematheque Francaise, of which Costa Gavras is president, is a partner of the festival this year and will arrange its September programming around the milestone 40th edition.
