Edgar Wright is directing the superhero film, with Kevin Feige producing. Wright also co-wrote the script with Joe Cornish. Production is set to start in April.
Plot details are still vague, but fans have suspected Wright is taking a different approach. It is also unknown what role Stoll would be playing.
If a deal closes, Stoll would round out what looks to be a full ensemble with production to begin next month. Patrick Wilson, Michael Pena and Evangeline Lilly are also in talks to join the cast. Marvel had no comment on the casting.
Stoll gave s scene-stealing perf as Ernest Hemingway in 2011’s “Midnight in Paris.” He gained more name recognition as troubled politician Peter Russo in the first season of Netflix’s “House of Cards” and he appears in FX’s upcoming vampire horror show “The Strain,” which is created by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan and based on the novel with the same name.
The actor, who is repped by UTA and Suskin Management, has a handful of films set to bow this year, including Shawn Levy’s “This is Where I Leave You” and Gillian Flynn’s “Dark Places.”
