Connie Britton has replaced Sharon Stone in Lionsgate’s action comedy film “American Ultra,” which recently began shooting in New Orleans.

Lionsgate acquired U.S. distribution rights to “American Ultra” for $7 million in March. Pic stars Kirsten Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg, with “Project X” director Nima Nourizadeh helming from a script by Max Landis.

Eisenberg portrays a small-town stoner and Stewart his girlfriend. His life takes an unexpected turn when his past comes back to haunt him as a sleeper agent in a government operation created by Britton’s character.

Stone left due to a scheduling conflict.

Britton stars in Lionsgate’s “Nashville,” currently in its second season on ABC.

“Ultra” producers are Anthony Bregman, Kevin Frakes, Raj Brinder Singh, David Alpert and Britton Rizzio, with Ray Angelic as executive producer.

Britton is repped by WME and Untitled Entertainment.
