Columbia TriStar has per-emptively bought the pitch “The Yank” as a potential starring vehicle for Will Ferrell.

Steve Pink and Jeff Morris will pen the script about an insurance courier who gets caught up in a conspiracy to steal the Crown Jewels in London.

Gary Sanchez Productions will produce with Mosaic.

Ferrell has revved up his development slate in the past month setting up a handful of comedies including “Match Maker,” where he will play Bobbie Riggs, and Sony’s “Border Guards,” where he will co-star with John C. Reilly.

@ Andrew Prior… Ummm Will Ferrell is massive amongst his target demographic here in the UK, Adam Sandler is too. People still quote Happy Gilmore now!
