China Box Office: ‘Godzilla’ Continues Weekend Rampage

Monster movie rampages as Shanghai festival opens.

SHANGHAI – “Godzilla” tore up the scenery on the second day of its theatrical release in China.

The Warner Bros-Legendary Pictures monster movie earned an estimated $14.8 million (RMB92.3 million on Saturday (June 14) from some 9,000 screens. The number was the biggest Warner has ever enjoyed for a Saturday/second day in the world’s number two B.O. territory.

The film’s two day cumulative score in China is $25.8 million (RMB161 million), according to data from Warner.

Directed by Gareth Edwards, “Godzilla” now has an estimated cume of $237 million outside North America.
