CANNES: U.S.’s Magnum Films Picks Three Pic Pack From Media Asia

Don't Go Breaking My Heart

Animated "Monkey King" also scores deals.

Magnum Films has picked up North American rights to “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart,” the sequel to 2011 Johnnie To-directed romantic comedy “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart.”

Hong Kong-based production and sales company Media Asia says that Magnum also bought two older titles – “SDU” and Johnnie To’s “Romancing In Thin Air” — as part of a package.

Media Asia used the early days of the Cannes Market to also ink deals on animated feature “Monkey King Reloaded” with Saran Media for Turkey. Myanmar’s Golden Yellow Tree acquired “Monkey King Reloaded” and actioner “Helios.”

Media Asia reported that it has a bid battle on its hands for Korean rights to “Helios,” but aims to close a deal during Cannes.
