CANNES — Cannes Market’s Next program, which focuses on innovation in the film biz, has added 3D transmedia project “Call Her Lotte!” to its lineup.
The project, which incorporates a short film and a Google Glass transmedia game, will be presented on May 19. The creators claim it is the world’s first transmedia project to use Google Glass, allowing people to be immersed in the story.
The short film, “Call Her Lotte!,” at the center of the project is a Third Reich drama shot in S3D, and featuring a Dolby Atmos sound mix. It revolves around two friends, Maria and Lea, in the 1930s in Munich, Germany, and how their friendship saves a young life from certain death.
The story is inspired by the life of Charlotte Knobloch, a German Jewish leader and former vice-president of the World Jewish Congress. The project has Knobloch’s support.
Writer/director Annekathrin Wetzel and producer Michael Geidel will be in Cannes to talk about the project.
The film is produced by MiriquidiFilm in co-production with broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk, and supported by the film fund FFF Bayern and the Independent Saxon State Media Agency.
The transmedia project is supported by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, Bayerischer Rundfunk and the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance.
